MULTAN, Nov 12: The Multan Municipal Corporation has not yet repaired dangerous buildings of three of its schools, which house more than 300 students, assuming that it is the responsibility of district government.

The buildings of MMC Girls Primary School, Andhi Khoi, MMC Girls Primary School, Hasan Parvana, and the MMC Boys Primary School, Double Phatak, were declared dangerous by army monitoring team.

In October last, the army monitoring team visited these schools. According to the report which it sent to the MMC the recent rains had badly affected the dilapidated buildings of these schools. The team also declared the electricity fittings dangerous.

“As the situation is grave, necessary repair work in these schools should be undertaken on priority,” the report said.

The team directed the MMC to forward a report of the completion of repair work by Oct 30. But no action has so far been taken.

SHOT DEAD: A woman was shot dead while another injured by a dacoit on resistance in Chichawatni on Monday.

Muhammad Rafiq said a dacoit burst into his sister Yasmeen’s house in Chak 88/12-L and resorted to firing when she and her servant Rubeena put up resistance. Rubeena died instantly while injured Yasmeen was admitted to the Nishtar Hospital in precarious condition.

The dacoit managed to escape.

INJURED: Three people, including a woman, were injured in a road accident here on Monday.

A rickshaw collided head-on with a wagon near Rashidabad Chowk. Rickshaw driver Iqbal, passengers Ameer Husain and Abida sustained injuries. They were taken to the Nishtar Hospital where the condition of Ameer was stated to be critical.

Six injured: Six people sustained injuries, one of them serious, in a clash between two rival groups over a land dispute in Chak 132/16-L, near Mian Channu.

Muhammad Aslam, the head of Arain clan of Chak 132/16-L had got on contract land from Bahawal Khan Lak of 131/16-L till 2012.

However, sometime back the Lak group moved the court for ending contract but the Arain group got a stay order in their favour. However, the stay was vacated by the court the other day, following which the Laks stormed the land to get its possession which led to a clash which left six people injured. Bahawal Khan sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Nishtar Hospital in Multan.
