Prisoner found dead

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Nov 28: A jailed drug smuggler died here at the Dera central prison on Tuesday.

Bashir Mohammad and his cousin Ali Nawaz of Tando Adam, Sindh, had been arrested by the customs mobile squad in 1999 after a huge quantity of narcotics was seized from them. The narcotics were being smuggled to the Sindh.

Both were facing trial under relevant law and were lodged in Dera central jail.

On Tuesday, Bashir Mohammad was found dead by other inmates at his cell at the Sehri time.

On the request of jail superintendent,  Khalid Abbas,   the district and sessions judge has appointed the senior civil judge to hold the inquiry to determine the causes if prisoner’s death.

The body was handed over the family members, who had arrived from Tando Adam after the jail authorities informed them of the death.
