SIALKOT, Nov 4: The family of an expatriate secured his release after paying Rs1 million ransom.

Chaudhry Munawwar Ahmad was kidnapped from his native village Gunnah Kalan (Sialkot Saddar) about four months ago when he returned from Germany. The kidnappers, including his friends Ehsanullah and Amanullah, demanded Rs3 million ransom from the family for his release.

After four months negotiations, the family struck a deal of Rs1 million with the kidnappers. The amount was handed over to the people nominated by the kidnappers.

After collecting the ransom, the kidnappers got Munawwar’s signatures on a blank paper and freed him.

Chaudhry Munawwar lodged a report with the Sialkot Saddar police in this regard on Monday.
