WASHINGTON, March 21: Eight Britons and four Americans became the first allied fatalities in the US-led invasion of Iraq on Friday when their helicopter crashed in Kuwait.
British Lieutenant Colonel Ben Curry said in Kuwait that the crash claimed the lives of eight British Royal Marines and four US airmen who were deploying to Iraq’s southern Fao peninsula. “There is no evidence that the helicopter crashed due to enemy fire,” Curry said.—AFP
