KARACHI, April 14: The provincial Education Minister, Irfanullah Marwat, on Monday has attributed scarcity of teachers in colleges to many teachers’ transfers from the colleges in far-flung areas and many others’ choice to serve in nearby colleges on detailment.
“But now, orders of those teachers working on detailment will be cancelled within a week,” he announced while addressing the Silver Jubilee ceremony of the Women College, New Karachi.
The minister also announced construction of an auditorium at the college and said 15 computers and an airconditioner would be provided for its computer lab.
He said that 3,000 computers would be provided to various colleges and schools of the province.
He held out the assurance that teachers’ problems would be resolved on priority basis.
“If we succeeded in bringing five per cent improvement in the working of Education Department, it will be a great success,” the minister said.
Principal of the college, Qaiser Sarfraz, told him that there were only two Urdu teachers at the college to teach in 14 classes. She said that the college also required lab assistants, sweepers and gatekeepers.—PPI
