FAISALABAD, Oct 12: Hundreds of villagers besieged the Chak Jhumra Police Station and blocked traffic on some roads by burning old tyres to protest against a police raid on a house that left three people injured, on Sunday night.

Sources said a police team had raided the house of Amjad Ali in village Panwan to “arrest some outlaws”. As the inmates put up resistance, the police opened fire on them. Amjad Ali, Zafar Iqbal and Ghulam Haider sustained multiple bullet injuries.

The locals gathered on the scene and became infuriated when they came to know that the police had “unlawfully” raided the house and left three villagers injured.

The infuriated villagers besieged the police station, chanting slogans against the police. They were dispersed by a heavy police contingent that included Elite Force personnel. Tension prevails in the area, and Panwan is encircled by police commandos.

MURDER: A girl was found murdered after criminal assault in Chak 500-GB on Saturday night.

Police believed unknown person(s) had raped the teenaged in village fields before squeezing her throat.

Meanwhile, a labourer was killed and two others sustained serious injuries when the roof a factory collapsed in Jaranwala on Saturday night.

Reportedly, the roof of a ginning factory caved in due to poor condition. Muhammad Boota, Zafar and Ghulam Haider were rushed to nearby hospital where Boota died.
