HYDERABAD, Oct 13: The University of Sindh will award three gold medals in the name of Khadija Daudpoto to its three best girl students every year from the current academic year.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held here on Monday which was presided over by vice-chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui.

The meeting discussed a working paper presented by the convener of the gold medal award committee, Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh.

The meeting also discussed the parameters for the award of the gold medals and decided that the awards would be given to meritorious girl students of final year on the basis of their academic record and performance in co-curricular activities.

An amount of Rs30,000 for the medals would be contributed by Dr Isa Daudpoto, the son of Mrs Daudpoto, every year.

MUET: The Mehran University of Engineering and Technology students on the call of the Jeay Sindh Students’ Federation took out a procession at the Jamshoro campus and staged a sit-in outside vice-chancellor’s secretariat on Monday.

A heavy contingent of police was deployed in the university on the occasion.

Later, the student leaders met with VC Dr Abdul Qadeer Rajput and the deans of the university.

The vice-chancellor assured the students that their genuine problems would be resolved.
