6 children die of gastro

DADU, April 23: Six children died of gastroenteritis and 13 others suffering from the disease were admitted to different hospitals in the Mehar taluka, Dadu district, on Friday. The disease spread in five villages of the taluka due to consumption of contaminated water of the Hamal Lake.

Four children – Zulfiqar Rind, 4, Allah Dino Rind, 6, Habiban Rind, 5, and Ishaq Ahmad Rind, 7, died in the Ahmad Khan Rind village and Saeed Tiwano, 5, and Ahmad Tiwano, 6, died in the Ali Bux Tiwano village.

The patients, including Aijaz Hussain, Soomal, Liaquat, Abdul Raheem, Kahang, Samina, Abdul Razzaq, Naseer Ggahino, Karima, Inayatullah and Benazir, were admitted to the Mehar Taluka Hospital, Faridabad Basic Health Unit and some private hospitals.

The affected areas are Shah Godrio, Ahmad Khan, Ali Bux, Mohammad Ali Rind and Umed Ali villages.
