KARACHI, Oct 24: Jamshed Town Nazim Tahir Mashhadi on Monday directed town officials to devise a concrete programme for removal of encroachments from footpaths and other places in order to contain difficulties faced by commuters and pedestrians.

Mr Mashhadi asked the officials to carry out cleanliness works prior to Eid-ul-Fitr saying that there should be impressive arrangements for festivals of other faiths too.

“Cleanliness is my top priority, therefore all resources should be exploited to make the town neat and clean,” he added.

He further directed them to expedite pace of works on uplift projects and solve public problems through concerted efforts.

He told the meeting that the town nazim would directly listen to the public grievances on every Wednesday and, therefore, officials should take steps for redressing complaints.

He said there would be no compromise on town’s recovery and asked officials to increase source of revenue of the town.

LIAQUATABAD: Liaquatabad Town Nazim Osama Qadri on Monday visited streets and lanes of UC-8 of the town and resented poor sanitary conditions there.

Flanked by UC-8 Nazim Abdul Hafiz Khan and TMO Affan Ahmed, he directed the town officials concerned to launch cleanliness drive in UC-8, a commercial area, to clean narrow lanes within a week.

He urged traders to cooperate with the town administration in keeping their surroundings clean by using proper ways to dispose off waste and garbage.

Mr Qadri also visited Government Boys Secondary School No. 1 to inspect facilities being provided there and announced installation of floodlights in grassy ground. —PPI
