HYDERABAD, Oct 24: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, here on Monday ordered the counsel of an applicant to produce the latters son before the court on October 31.

The applicant, Mohammad Imran, who was represented by Kaneez Fatima, had sent a telegram to the high court, stating that three to four unknown persons were trying to implicate his son in the kidnapping of Mehvish Samreen Fatima since August 24.

Additional Advocate General Masood A. Noorani submitted a written letter of a senior investigating officer of the Samanabad police before the court which stated that Javed Abbas, son of Zargam Ali, lodged a case on September 3, 2005, that his daughter, Mehvish Fatima, 22, had been kidnapped by Khurram, the neighbour of Mohammad Imran.

The Samanabad police officials from Karachi informed the court that the cellphone of the son of the applicant was used in the kidnapping.

The FIR was lodged under section 11 of the Zina Hudood Ordinance.

The investigation was handed over to ASI Raja Liaquat Ali.

The police arrested Moha-mmad Farooq, son of Mohammad Hanif, on September 16, 2005, from Latifabad.

He disclosed that the hostage was in touch with Rizwan, son of the applicant, Mohammad Imran.

The AAG said that the ASI had raided the house of Rizwan, a representative of a pharmaceutical company, and his father informed the police that he had gone to Lahore to attend a meeting of the company.

Mr Noorani said that the father of Rizwan produced a letter to the police, but his son’s name was not mentioned in it.

He said that the investigating officer issued a notice to the applicant’s son but he did not appear.

The Samanabad police station SHO, however, denied that he had raided the house of applicant because he was concerned with the operation wing of police.

The police officials also produced a copy of a letter of the SSP investigation zone-III Mir Zubair Mahmood, directing a police party to proceed to the Hyderabad district for investigation of the FIR.

Mr Imran said that his son worked as representative of a pharmaceutical company and was a law abiding citizen.

He said that his son was being chased because the accused of the case, Abdul Rehman alias Khurram, son of Chaman, a resident of Muanwarabad, was his neighbour from a long time.

Mr Imran said that the Samanabad police raided his house, gave threats and harassed the family.

He prayed to the court to provide protection to his family.
