LAHORE, Jan 1: India defeated Pakistan 40-33 to level the three-match women netball series 1-1 at the Wapda Sports Control Board on Sunday. Pakistan won the first match in Islamabad. The series decider will be played in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Pakistan matched India 9-9 in the first quarter. But the visitors dominated in the remaining three quarters to notch up victory.

India led the second quarter 23-12. Pakistan could reduce the margin to 30-22 in the third quarter, before India wrapped up the win in the fourth.

Pakistan’s captain Aisha Razzak pointed out that lapses in defence team was the main cause of defeat which she hoped would not be repeated in the final.

Indian skipper Ms Panchali Tatke said that her team learnt a lot from the mistakes it made in the opener and played with more unity to earn the victory.
