KARACHI, Jan 1: Inspired by a scintillating century from Ramiz Aziz, Customs Cricket Academy (CCA) scored a crushing 108-run victory over K&S Academy, Dubai to clinch the Dolphin Youth cricket championship in Sharjah. According to details available here on Sunday, former Pakistan Test all-rounder Mudassar Nazar, who was the chief guest at Friday’s day/night final, awarded the Dolphin Cup — the world’s tallest trophy at 17 feet and six inches, to the triumphant CCA skipper Ramiz Aziz.

Ramiz led from the front after winning the toss by scoring 100 off 109 deliveries as CCA rattled up 194 for five in the allotted 30 overs.

Ramiz, who struck six fours and two sixes, put on 75 for the opening wicket with Mirza Asad Baig 36 off 36 balls with three fours and one six.

K&S Academy never threatened CCA’s domination as they crumbled to 86 all out in the 27th over.

CCA almost made a clean sweep of the individual awards. Ramiz was declared Man-of-the-Final and the Man-of-the-Tournament while his team-mates ran away with two other awards. Mirza Asad Baig was the tournament’s best batsman and Ahsan Khan the best bowler.

K&S Academy consoled themselves with Salar Shakeel being adjudged best fielder of the tournament.

Summarised scores:

CUSTOMS CRICKET ACADEMY 194-5 in 30 overs (Ramiz Aziz 100, Mirza Asad Baig 36; Nashan Nasir 2-30);

K&S ACADEMY DUBAI 86 in 26.1 overs (Ramiz Aziz 2-6, Arsalan Saleem 2-13, Ahsan Khan 2-18, Arsalan Hussain 2-21).
