KARACHI, Jan 5: Six ships to load and unload containers, rice, chemicals and coke arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Thursday.

Berth occupancy stood at 67 per cent as seven ships, Sealand Mariner, CMA CGM Nilgai, Gallant Wave, Al-Brella, Fu May, Khaleda and Gemini, were busy in loading and unloading containers, rice seeds, jute and edible oil.

A cargo volume of 58,130 tons comprising 39,253 tons of import and 18,877 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was active as Sealand Mariner and Gallant Wave left the port while Gemini, CMA CGM Nilgai and Fu May were due to depart.

On arrival side four ships, Nuria, Germany, Shangor and Zhong Hai, with container and coal were due to arrive on Thursday while Norasia Everest and Golden Oceania with containers and chemicals were expected to reach on Friday.

Nine ships, Olympic, Bahagia, Saratoga, Chong Chon Gang, Khlada, Heros, Al-Maryah, Pleione and Golden Star, were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage.
