ARD-backed DBA chief elected

KASUR, Jan 5: Chaudhry Munir Ahmed of the Mian Nayar group has been elected as District Bar Association president. According to unofficial results, Mr Ahmed secured 221 votes while his opponent Bashir Sindhu obtained 193 votes. Sardar Usman Dogar of the Sardar Ashique group was elected as secretary-general by bagging 229 votes. Rana Naveed of the Mian Nayar group was elected as joint secretary.

It may be mentioned that the Mian Nayar Group has the backing of the ARD while the Sardar Ashique group has got the PML support.
