KARACHI, Jan 5: The president, PBSA, Ali Asghar Valika, is vying for re-election when it takes place at the annual general body meeting of the games controlling body being held in the city on Jan 21.
Elected for the first time in 1988, he is again the ‘unanimous’ choice and likely to get the vote of confidence of the executive committee members.
Since coming at the helm of affairs of PBSA, he has been largely responsible for taking the game to great heights by producing world champion Muhammad Yousuf in a span of six years in 1994.
The meeting, among other matters, would also elect members of the executive committee in addition to finalising the annual calendar and approving the audited accounts.
Pakistan would feature in the World Championship at Jordan and the Asian spectacle at Sri Lanka during the year.
Participation in a six-nation International snooker tournament at Dubai in the near future was also on the cards.
Top cueists from Pakistan, India, Thailand, China, Hong Kong and hosts UAE would feature in the contest.
