BD tea prices slide

ISLAMABAD, Jan 18: The average price of Bangladesh teas fell by 0.44 per cent to 77.30 taka($1.16) at a weekly auction, brokers said.

“Nearly 1.46m kgs were sold at average price of 77.30 taka per kg, down 0.44 taka from the last sale. The withdrawal percentage was 27,” said an auctioneer.

Buyers from Pakistan, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Bangladesh participated in the auction.

Some 300 kg of well-made Pekoe Fannings realized the highest price of 128 taka per kg followed by another 150 kg Red Dust selling at 108 taka per kg. Other grades were sold between 60 taka and 99 taka per kg.

The next weekly auction will be held on January 24, with an expected offering of 1.8 million kg.—APP
