HYDERABAD, Jan 18: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said the government is actively considering to provide state land for establishing industrial zones in private sector to encourage industrialization, eradicate unemployment and poverty from the society.
He stated this while inspecting a track of 5000 acres of land at Deh Uth Plan, Thana Bula Khan taluka, district Jamshoro near Nooriabad, on Wednesday evening.
This land has been proposed for establishment of an industrial zone in the private sector.
The chief minister said that due to industries-oriented and flexible policy of the government, many industrialists have shown their willingness in establishing industries and the Aga Group of Companies was one of them which has requested for allotment of at least 5000 acres of government land in Thana Bula Khan taluka for establishing a private industrial zone.
He said that the Sindh government was actively considering the request to set an example for other industrialists to encourage them in the interest of government and common people as well.
He directed the officers of the revenue department to conduct a detailed survey of the proposed land and complete the required formalities before processing the case for allotment to the interested group.
He also directed them to ensure that no inhabitant of the area is deprived of his right of property due to allotment of land.
He also asked them to review market value of the land so that it could be disposed of in a transparent manner. He said that due to this flexible policy of the government, more industrialization in the province was expected which would not only reduce poverty but minimize unemployment from the society and added that it was prime task of his government.
He called upon the industrialists to come forward and join hands with the government in eradication of unemployment and poverty from the society.
He said that industrialization would not only increase the purchasing power of the people, it would also lead to marketing of industrial products.
Member Land Utilization, Board of Revenue, Khalid Mehmood Soomro, briefed the chief minister about the status of proposed land and said that after conducting a complete survey, the meeting of price committee would be called to determine the rate of land.
Head of Aga Khan Group of Companies, Aga Tajammul, informed the Sindh chief minister that it was for the first time in Sindh that his group, with the collaboration of a China-based company, was establishing industrial zone in the private sector.
He said that if accepted by the Sindh government, industrial units of automobile, mechanical and other engineering products would be set-up which will bring a visible economic change in the province.
