SAHIWAL, Jan 18: The district convention of the ruling PML scheduled for Wednesday at the Muslim League House was boycotted by the groups, led by party’s city president Rana Aamir Shahzad and secretary-general Shakeel Khan Niazi, over their differences with Punjab Agriculture Minister Muhammad Arshad Khan Lodhi.
Mr Niazi has already resigned from his office.
However, district president Malik Jalal Din Dhakko and his supporters who also had differences with Mr Lodhi were reconciled following the intervention of ministers and later Mr Dhakko presided over the convention.
Reports said Mr Dhakko and Mr Lodhi ironed out their differences following the intervention of provincial ministers Husain Jahanian Gardezi, Pir Ghulam Mohiuddin, adviser Chaudhry Sikander Elahi Cheema and standing committee chairman MPA Dr Saima Amjad.
Besides the groups, led by Rana Shahzad and Shakeel Niazi, MNAs Rai Azizullah, Rana Tariq Javed and Chaudhry Saeed Gujjar also did not attend the convention.
