KARACHI, Jan 19: The Pakistan Medical Association, Karachi on Thursday expressed deep concern over the growth of hoardings, billboards, and other such sources of advertising.

Dr S.M. Qaiser Sajjad, General Secretary, PMA-Karachi in a press statement said that many of these billboards and banners had been erected, around all the major thoroughfares across the city, with proper permission from the city government.

He referred to instances when these huge billboards not withstanding strong winds came down causing damages to public vehicles, parked around and such incidents also caused traffic jams.

So far no loss of human lives has been reported, but its possibility at any point of time does exist, he said stressing that the concerned authorities must take immediate notice and pull down vast majority of these hoardings.

He urged the city government and the Cantonment Boards to take immediate action against such life threats and to give Karachi roads a beautiful look.—-PPI/APP
