KARACHI, Jan 19: Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro held a series of meetings with the World Bank Mission to workout and finalize budgetary support for improving education in the province.
Dr Khuhro in a briefing conducted for a 3-member WB team said that through institutional reforms and other initiatives the enrolment had been enhanced by bringing the out-of-school children into schools.
The WB team comprised Ms Tahseen Sayed, Ms Sophia Shakeel and Ms Reema Nayar.
The minister said that a plan had been formulated under which included the provision of missing facilities at all levels, comprehensive teachers’ training, revival of curriculum, free supply of textbooks up to matric, etc.
She said that parents and the society particularly were being motivated through media campaigns to come forward and take part in education affairs directly.
The WB officials appreciated the media campaign and other reforms being initiated by the education department and hoped that the system of education in Sindh would be improved at a much faster pace with the efforts by the Sindh government, the World Bank and other agencies.—APP
