ISLAMABAD, Feb 16: Lawyers staged a protest demonstration against blasphemous cartoons here on Thursday and asked the government to seek unconditional apology from the envoys of the countries responsible for the shameful act and expel them from the country.
A large number of lawyers chanting slogans against the European countries marched towards the diplomatic enclave from the Supreme Court building and handed over a protest memorandum to the representatives of the embassies of Denmark, France, Germany and Italy. However, the heavy contingent of police present on the occasion did not allow them to go beyond the main entrance of the diplomatic enclave.
A joint resolution was also adopted by the lawyers in which the Muslim states were asked to summon an emergency session of the Organization of Islamic Conference to devise some strategy to tackle the situation.
