KARACHI: Action against illegal water connections


KARACHI, Feb 20: Shah Faisal Town Nazim Mohammad Imran on Monday said that strict action would be taken against illegal water and sewerage connections. Visiting the Jumma Goth, Pathan Goth and other goths of the town, he said that illegal water connections were creating water shortage in the area.

He ordered that such malpractice must be rooted out and legal action taken against those responsible.

On the occasion, the area people complained that some land grabbers were involved in illegal water and sewerage connections.

The town nazim ordered to sever all such connections immediately. He also inaugurated a new water pipeline connection in the area.

Town Naib Nazim Ali Akbar, SE of KWSB Saleem Siddiqui, XEN Water and Sewerage Board Syed Nazir Hussein and others were also present.

JAMSHED TOWN: The acting nazim of Jamshed Town, Altaf Zakir, has given a 15-day time limit to officers of various department of the town to improve their performance; otherwise stern disciplinary action would be initiated against them.

He was addressing the town officers after assuming the charge as acting town nazim, said a news release issued here Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Town Naib Nazim Mohammed Arif Ajakeya said that the performance of the officers would be reviewed in monthly meetings and remedial steps for any mistake from officers or departments would be taken.

He said that the revenue of the town was zero and urged the need for taking steps to explore avenues to generate revenue.

Mr Ajakeya said that due to the unsatisfactory performance of the TMO regularization, he had been transferred.

On the occasion, DTO Iqbal Ahmed of the Department of Solid Waste Management presented a model for storage of garbage which was appreciated and approved.

GULSHAN TOWN: Germicide fumigation campaign has been started in different vicinities of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, on the orders of Gulshan Town Nazim Mohammad Wasay Jalil.

Fumigation started in UC 13, Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Monday under the supervision of the town nazim, naib nazim, TMO and other officers.

The campaign will continue for seven days.—APP/PPI
