KARACHI: Altaf slams religious parties

KARACHI, Feb 20: Commitment and dedication distinguishes Muttahida Quami Movement from other political and religious parties, MQM leader Altaf Hussain remarked while addressing the MQM coordination committee members.

According to a press release, he lamented that instead of working for peoples’ aspirations, political and religious parties were interested more in serving their personal interests.

Among those present at the meeting were Dr Imran Farooq, Tariq Javed, M Anwar, Tariq Mir, Saleem Shahzad, Mohammad Ashfaq, Javed Kazmi, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, and former federal minister Senator Ahmad Ali.

Mr Hussain stressed that the objective of the MQM’s struggle was to introduce such reforms and positive changes in the “corrupt Pakistani culture” which could guarantee solution of the problems faced by the poor and the middle classes. The party wanted the oppressed to have equal rights and privileges as Pakistani citizens, says a press release.
