Blast probe statements recorded

KOHAT, Feb 20: Three witnesses of the Pass Kalay area of Hangu recorded their statements here on Monday before the inquiry commission probing into the Feb 9 bomb blast. The witnesses — Syed Pir Ghayas, Ali Asghar and Iqtidar Ali – stated that there was too much firing on their village and they could not come out of their homes to see who was attacking them.

They said they had locked themselves inside their homes after rumours spread in the area that a tribal Lashkar would attack the town and the Pass Kalay area to avenge the killing of their people and burning of their shops.

The army, however, intervened during the night of the attack and enforced a ceasefire.—Correspondent
