KARACHI, Feb 20: Striker comprising S. M. Ozair, Nasir Reza Khan, Asghar Naqvi and Nur Alam put up a spirited fight to win the weekly swiss league title at Naziabad Bridge Club on Sunday.

Playing with consistency Striker collected 96 Victory Points (VPs) to win the competition.

Striker started their winning streak against Ahmed IV 21-9 in the opener, they outpaced Chandna 18-12, Puri 17-13, Candyland 15-15 and Shamsi 25-5.

Candyland also won three matches, drawn one and lost last round match to Ahmed IV. The team comprised Ziaullah Baig, Hamid Mohiuddin, Hasan Askari, Raees Ahmed, Saleem Ahmed and Khaled Mohiuddin. Candyland scored 88 VPs for the second spot.

Ahmed IV placed third with four straight wins from Attackers, Shamsi, Puris and Candyland lost the opening encounter against Striker. The team comprised Tariq Zafar, Farhat Abbas, Jawad Abedi, Ahmed Hameed and Syed Ameer Hasan.

In the meantime monthly pair contest will be held at Karachi Gymkhana Club from Tuesday. This is an open pair contest and all bridge players of the city are invited to figure in the event.—APP
