KARACHI, Feb 26: Three men died in two different road accidents in different parts of the city on Sunday. Police said a speeding dumper dashed onto a pavement hitting people waiting for public transport at the bus stop in Quaidabad, killing two and injuring a third person.

Police said two of the dead were identified as Mohammad Abid and Shahanshah while Hafeez suffered serious injuries.

The dead and the injured were sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre by the police.

Police claimed to have arrested the errant driver of the dumper, who was later identified as Zahid.

In another accident, a young man died in a hit-and-run accident at the Native’s Jetty Bridge on Sunday evening.

Edhi sources said Abdul Samad was riding his motorcycle when a speeding truck knocked him down and sped away.

The victim was taken to the Civil Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

FIRE: Two incidents of fire were reported in different parts of the city on Sunday.

In the New Karachi Industrial Area, a fire broke out in a towel factory. The chief fire officer said that eight fire tenders worked to control the fire. He said the cause of the fire and the extent of the damages could not be ascertained immediately.

In another incident, a plastic godown was gutted in Liaquatabad on Sunday. A fire erupted in the three-storey building housing a plastic godown.
