KARACHI: Altaf calls for early grant of provincial autonomy

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 26: MQM chief Altaf Hussain has said the issue of provincial autonomy should be resolved at the earliest to eliminate the unrest prevailing among the three small provinces of the country.

In his statement issued from the party’s secretariat in London on Sunday, Mr Hussain said that the autonomy should be complete and the provinces should be empowered to resolve their problems by themselves.

Congratulating the MQM coordination committee on the holding of the All-Parties Conference on Provincial Autonomy and Balochistan Situation, he appreciated the religious and political figures, intellectuals , human right activists and journalists, and also thanked the diplomats, who attended it.

He described provincial autonomy as ‘need of the hour’.

Meanwhile, Saleem Shehzad, a member of the coordination committee, has asked the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal to do away with ‘politics of hypocrisy’.

He said the MMA should surrender the ministries it was holding before bringing masses on roads.
