LONDON, Feb 26: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said here on Sunday that he would not strike any deal with President General Pervez Musharraf for his return to the country.

Appearing on BBC’s “Talking Point” programme, the former premier said that if he struck a deal with the government, President Musharraf himself would have to come here to take him back to Pakistan.

Replying to a question about his exile, he denied having signed any agreement with the government and said his and Shahbaz Sharif’s imprisonment had become a problem for General Musharraf.

“If I enter into a deal with Musharraf today, I will be in Pakistan in the evening.

I consider my period in exile as a part of my struggle”, he said.

He claimed that President Musharraf wished to talk to him. “But I will continue to stand for principles and the dignity and respect of the Constitution.” — Online
