LARKANA, Feb 27: A large quantity of arms, including a rocket-launcher, and ammunition are missing from the arsenal of the Qambar police station. SHO Sardar Khan Chandio, who noticed the shortfall during an inspection of the arsenal, informed the District Police Officer, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Ahmed Yar Chauhan, who conducted an inquiry. The DPO told Dawn that the matter had been reported to the Regional Police Officer (RPO), Sukkur and the DIG Police (Operation), Larkana range.

The SHO’s report revealed that besides the rocket-launcher, the weapons and ammunition missing from the police arsenal included one light machine-gun with bullet belt, seven Kalashnikov assault rifles with 13 magazines, one official SMG with 90 rounds, one G-3, three pistols and one shotgun.

One motorcycle and four kilograms of seized narcotics were also missing. The missing weapons and ammunitions had been seized from a truck in 1995 by the excise and taxation department of Qambar, sources said, adding that involvement of some police officers was suspected in the theft.
