MIRPURKHAS, March 2: The nazim of the Union Council of Mirwah Gorchani, Ehsanul Haq Arain, has accused the EDO health of harming the system of Rural Health Centre (RHC) Mirwah Gorchani by transferring doctors and paramedical staff and said that only five against the strength of 12 doctors were working there.
Talking to journalists at the press club here on Thursday, he said that the centre needed two lady doctors but only one was working and that a health management committee of the centre was supervising affairs of RHC and extending financial support.
He stated that the OPD catered to the need of 300 to 400 patients on daily basis but despite complaints, the EDO health was not resolving problems.
He said that an ultrasound machine was brought to Mirpurkhas for repair two years back which was still not returned to the centre.
He said that he had approa-ched the Sindh health minister twice to apprise him of these problems but without any result.
He demanded of the minister of health and the secretary of health and the DG health services of Sindh and the district nazim of Mirpurkhas to save the centre by suspending the transfer orders of doctors and paramedical staff immediately and ensure provision of ultrasound machine to it.
DEMO: A number of workers and office-bearers of People’s Party staged protest demonstration, here on Thursday outside of National Press Club to protest excesses and policies of Haji Noor Hassan Chandio, district president of the PPP, Mirpur-khas, and other office-bearers.
Later, speaking at a press conference, Haji Chhuttal Wassan, general secretary of PPP, Mirpurkhas taluka, Ghulam Hussain Niazi, member of the district committee, Mohammad Sharif Rind, president of the Union Council of Kherao, and others expressed concern over statement of Haji Noor Hassan Chandio, levelling allegations against member of the federal council of the party Syed Ali Nawaz Shah which they termed a violation of the party discipline.
They said that no action was taken by the Sindh PPP leadership against the district president and demanded of Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto and Sindh PPP president Syed Qaim Ali Shah to save party by dissolving the district body as its office-bearers were involved in creating division in the party.
They said that if action was not taken party office-bearers and workers would be compelled to stage protest demonstration and observe hunger strike outside the Bilawal House in Karachi.
DECLINE: There is a decline in prices of chicken due to bird flu virus in the neighbouring countries.
The poultry dealers said that price of chicken meat had declined by Rs8 per kilogram as it was available at Rs72 per kg against Rs80 kilogram a few days back.
The District Officer Poultry, Dr Aziz Khan, had left for Islamabad to confirm reports of bird flu virus along with 10 to 15 samples. People were, however, buying chicken without any fear.
The president of Sindh-Balochistan Chicken and Feed Dealers Association, Mirpurkhas zone, Mohammad Usman Rajput, said that there was no danger of bird flu virus due to which prices of chicken had not decreased and people were purchasing chicken.
PATROLLING: Security has been beefed up in Mirpurkhas on Thursday following bomb blasts in Karachi as patrolling has been intensified.
Police force has been deployed in bazars, markets, sensitive places, exit and entry points. Police were also checking vehicles.
