PESHAWAR: Kidnapped men yet to be found

By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, March 4: City police and political administration of the Khyber Agency are yet to find four people, who were kidnapped by their rivals a month ago. Mohammad Anwar of Kalakhel village in Bara tehsil told Dawn here on Friday that his father Haji Wazir Khan, brother Abdul Qayyum Khan and two nephews — Mohammad Farooq and Khasadar Mohammad Ayub — were kidnapped on Feb 4 from the Matani area.

He alleged that they had been kidnapped by their rivals, Said Noor and his brother Ayaz Noor, their sons and nephews who belong to the same area.

Mr Anwar claimed that after registering a case he went several times to the police and also approached the Khyber Agency political administration and informed them about the exact locations where the four men had been detained.

Law-enforcement personnel only verbally promised to secure their release, but did nothing, he said. Mr Anwar alleged that Pyao Noor alias Khar Pyao, son of Khan Haider, had killed his brother Pyao Noor Khan, who was on duty as khasadar in Khyber Levy Force, about 20 months ago.

Arbab Mohammad Arif, former political administrator, on the complaint of the deceased’s family arrested the accused and awarded him 15-year imprisonment under the Frontier Crime Regulations (FCR).

Now the kidnappers were demanding to get Pyao Noor release from the Khyber Agency administration jail, Mr Anwar said.

He appealed to NWFP Governor Khalilur Rehman and Provincial Police Officer Riffat Pasha to get secure the release of his family members.

ROBBERY: Six armed robbers entered the house of Mohammad Ali and his brother Abid Ali on Thursday night and decamped with Rs275,000 cash, prize bonds of Rs1 million, 45 tolas of gold ornaments and two cellular phones.

Mohammad Ali, a resident of Afghan Lane on Warsak Road, told the Matani police that six armed men entered his house when they were asleep.

The robbers made all inmates hostage at gunpoint and collected the cash, prize bonds and gold ornaments and escaped.
