CHITRAL, March 4: The tehsil and union nazims of the PPP here have rejected the appointment of district president of the party by the provincial and central leaders. Speaking at a joint press conference here on Friday, tehsil nazim Sartaj Ahmed Khan, district naib-nazim Sultan Shah, union nazims Ameerullah, Rehmat Ilahi, Ameer Khan Jalali, Mohammad Wazir Khan, Kashafat Younis and Sardar Hussain said that the PPP leaders did not consult the party workers in Chitral before appointing Zainul Abideen as district president.

They said that the workers were against the ‘imposition’ of the president on them by the central leaders and would not cooperate with him. They appealed to PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto to send a high-powered team to Chitral to ascertain the facts and appoint a district president chosen by them.
