KARACHI, March 11: Seven-year-old bay mare, Bang On Target, from the stables of Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara should win the feature event in the Gymkhana meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

She is drawn in the six furlongs concluding event of the day alongside seven aspirants. The race is restricted to Pakistani horses in class 111 and 1V.

Though she finished fourth in her previous appearance, lagging behind Makina, Excalibur and Moon Raker on Feb 26, Bang On Target is our day’s best for attaining honours.

Her likely challengers are chestnut Captain Crash and Moon Raker. The latter was placed third in the last two outings.

A card of eight races with first five going over to a distance of five furlongs and the remaining to six has been chalked out for days programme. The first race begins at 1.00pm.

Five-year-old mare, First Shot, should gallop away with the opener which has a field of 13 contestants. She should be chased home by Jaguar and Royal Beauty.

Five-year-old bay horse, Canon Ball, should pick up spoils in the second race. He should be followed by Princess Ridda and Raat Ki Rani for the places.

Owned by S. Laila Rizvi and trained by S. Ehtisham, filly Eswarah should sprint to victory in the next race. However, she will face challenge from Super Time and Qandhar.

The next two races also have 18 contenders. Mare Iztrab should be in line for another bold show to make it two in a row by picking up the fourth race. However, Closing Argument may cause an upset.

The next race should see filly Voo Doo Doll picking up the spoils. In her last outing, she failed to make an impact.

Three-year-old, Laat Sahib, also from the Pir Pagara’s stables, if tried, can upset all calculations.

Miss Millee and Aie Bahar should win honours in the following two races.
