KARACHI: 2 acquitted in ransom case

KARACHI, March 18: Administrative judge of anti-terrorism courts in Karachi on Saturday acquitted two men of kidnapping for ransom charges as police found no evidence against them.

Mohammad Asif, 30, and Rizwan, 20, were arrested on charge of kidnapping Noor Ilahi for ransom from North Nazimabad on March 2.

Complainant alleged that the accused kidnapped him near Sakhi Hasan Chowragni, kept him hostage at a house in Ajmer Nagri and demanded Rs50,000 from his family for release.

The investigation officer of the case submitted a report before Justice Khiliji Arif Hussain of the Sindh High Court.

He told the AJ that no sufficient evidence was found against them and they may be exonerated from charges.

The AJ, granting the report, exonerated the two accused from charges and directed the IO to lodge case against complainant of the case for registering false case.—PPI
