KARACHI, March 18: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that he personally feels that the proposed system of composite examination at the Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate level will not be in the interest of students, but he cannot deviate from a decision of the federal government in the issue.

Talking to newsmen after the concluding session of Sindh Education Conference at State Bank of Pakistan on Saturday, the chief minister said that like many people in the province, he had been opposing the composite examinations and had been conveying reservations to the quarters concerned, but to no avail.

He continued to say that even in Punjab he had heard a lot of people talking against the composite system.

Since it was a decision of the federal education ministry, Lt-Gen (retd) Javed Ashraf Qazi would be the appropriate person to answer a question.

In the meantime, the Committee of Chairmen (COC) of the Sindh Boards of Education which met with Anwar Ahmad Zai, chairman of Mirpurkhas Board in the chair, on Saturday discussed matters pertaining to the boards.

“Among others, we also decided to stand by our previous resolution on the issue of composite examinations, and the issue has been deferred till next meeting on March 25,” said a chairman of the board.
