Habib Bank workers go on strike

MIRPURKHAS, March 18: Activists of Habib Bank Limited Staff Union staged a token strike and demonstration outside the bank’s main branch to protest its decision to retrench 3100 workers. They also observed a tool down strike in all branches for two hours, which created some problems in transaction for account holders.

Faisal Khan, Senior Vice-President HBL Staff Union said they would not allow the bank to sack 2300 non-clerical staff and would continue peaceful protest till their reinstatement.

Growers’ training: EDO Revenue Abdul Rahim Soomro has advised farmers to take advantage of modern technology to increase per acre yield of their crops.

He was speaking as chief guest in Khadim Ali Shah village where the irrigation has arranged training for growers and farmers in adaptation of modern technology for cultivation of wheat crop.

EDO urged growers to put into practice agriculturists’ directives to acquire more produce.

Manager Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) Akram Bajwa said the FFC had established a free soil and water test laboratory for the growers.
