58 held for kite ban violations

LAHORE, March 18: The city police claimed on Saturday to have arrested 58 people for violation of the kite-flying ban and recovered 92 charkis and 200 kites from their possession. DIG Operations Aamir Zulifqar said that on Sunday some 2,000 policemen would be deployed in different parts of the city to check violation. He said the owner of a house where violation was committed would also be booked.

WARNING: Violators of the kite-flying ban will be dealt with an iron hand.

This was stated by City Police Chief Additional IG Khwaja Khalid Farooq here on Saturday. He said the ban had been reinforced on March 16 and violators would not be spared.

He directed all divisional SPs to constitute special teams in this regard. He said the station house officers would be held responsible for the violation of the ban in their area of jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, organised crime police Sadar division claimed to have arrested four members of an inter-provincial drug pushers gang and seized 160kg hashish from their possession in Badami Bagh.

The were Javed Khan (ring leader), Sharafat Ali, Tasaddaq Husain and Azam Butt. The DIG Investigation announced cash prizes for the raiding team.
