FAISALABAD, March 18: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) has chalked out a five-year plan to improve its distribution system in addition to reducing line losses. This was stated by Fesco chief executive Brig Tariq Rasool (retired) while speaking to participants of a meeting here on Saturday.

He said the MCB would provide Rs683 million loan to the Fesco to implement this plan. The bank would charge interest at the rate of KIBOR plus 1.5 per cent. The major portion of the loan would be utilised to reduce line losses.

“Our line losses of approximately 10 per cent are minimum in all distribution companies”, he said and added that the Fesco had plans to further reduce one per cent line losses every year by utilising this loan facility.

Giving the break-up of the loan, Mr Rasool said the Fesco would spend Rs293 million to control line losses. Similarly, Rs190 million had been allocated for the improvement of distribution system besides electrifying rural areas.

“The remaining Rs200 million will be for running expenditures,” he said and added that the repayment period of the loan would be five years. He hoped that this plan would bring a qualitative improvement in the distribution system.

WARNING: The Wasa has warned illegal connection holders to regularise their water and sewerage connections immediately to avoid disconnection.

In a statement here on Saturday, a Wasa spokesman said the instalment facility would also be provided to defaulters. In this connection, he said instructions had been issued to revenue officers to extend necessary facility to connection holders to clear their arrears in instalments.
