KARACHI, April 5: The chief controller of Buildings, Karachi Building Control Authority, on Wednesday said the government was pursuing a policy for the elimination of corruption at every level.

He said the KBCA was striving for strict enforcement of construction discipline, and no malpractice or carelessness in connection with illegalities and constructions, which might deface the city and lead to growing problems, will be tolerated.

He expressed these views at an open public meeting of the KBCA on Wednesday in which he listened to public problems with reference to construction activities.

He issued orders and directives for solving dozens of problems brought to his knowledge.

During the open kutchery, the chief controller issued orders for demolition of Al-Feroz Arcade and sealing of an illegal building on plot no GRE-550 in Garden East, Jamshed Town, in the light of public complaints and information obtained from concerned officials present there.

He also issued directives to concerned officials regarding public complaints against various private and residential projects including Data Nagar, Ideal Arcade, Iqra City, Suleman Terrace, Ghazi Arcade and Gulshan-i-Rehman.

It was said that NOCs issued in respect of these projects had already been cancelled by the KBCA on violation of building laws.

On complaint by a citizen about the misuse of powers, the CCOB ordered immediate suspension of the building inspector of North Karachi Town Zone and order an inquiry against him.

He pointed out that honest and sincere service to people was the government’s foremost policy and every body was part of that. — APP
