Pakistan fail to reach semifinals


KARACHI, April 5: Pakistani cueists put up disappointing performance against India in the Seven-nation Kataria International Snooker Championship at Dubai, according to information received here on Wednesday.

Pakistan got off to good start when former world number two Saleh Mohammad beat Mannan Chandra 4-1. But former World and Asian Champion Mohammad Yousuf went down to Sarang Sheroff in four straight frames.

In the decider, Riffat Habib beat Pakistan number three Naveen Perwani 4-3.

Pakistan finished third in the pool behind India and Thailand, who progressed to the semifinals.

Pakistan’s only consolation was against United Arab Emirates ‘B’.—APP
