KARACHI, April 9: Acting City Nazim Nasreen Jaleel said on Sunday that the city government was endeavouring to develop an effective coordination with community boards for resolution of problems being faced by different communities in the metropolis.
She expressed these views while talking to representatives of different NGOs, including Indian delegates, which called on her, here on Sunday.
She said the CDGK is working with the coordination of community boards to resolve the problems of communities through CBs involvement.
She said the new local government system had provided opportunities for establishment of community boards at towns and union council levels to work for welfare of masses.
Ms Jaleel said that women have been given 33 per cent representation in the City Council, with the aim of ensuring their participation in the development process.
Talking to Indian delegates, she said that 33 per cent women’s representation would empower women, adding, there is a need for giving more representation to women in political parties within the party setup.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Christian Council of Social Services (Indian NGO), R Isabel briefed the Acting City Nazim about the role of NGOs in India for women’s development and poverty alleviation from the India.
