KARACHI: Thin attendance in city govt offices

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 13: Most of offices of city government and 18 town municipal administrations (TMAs) presented a deserted look for the second consecutive day on Thursday owing to thin attendance of officials.

A majority of employees of the CDGK and the TMAs could not attend to their offices as public transport remained off the road on Thursday also. Even senior officials remained absent from their duties as their official vehicles ran out of fuel in the wake of closure of petrol pumps since Tuesday night.

However, the city Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, and some heads of departments were present in their offices.

Similarly, working was also badly affected in the KBCA and the KWSB offices as most of employees could not reach their offices in the wake of non-availability of public transport.

VALVE OPERATION: Water supply position of various parts of the city, in general, and the Old City Area, in particular, was badly affected as the valve operation system of various localities could not be carried out according to schedule.

Confirming that at a time when various parts of the city were already in the grip of acute water shortage, the valve operation system which could not be implemented effectively on Wednesday and Thursday has further deteriorated the supply position, especially in Old City area.

Residents of several water-starved localities complained that on the one hand, they had been experiencing acute water shortage since last fortnight and, on the other, drivers of most of private tankers are reluctant to supply them water.
