ISLAMABAD, April 13: Law Minister Wasi Zafar has said that President Pervez Musharraf can keep his military post for another term under the President to Hold Another Office Bill 2004. He told reporters on Thursday that Gen Musharraf was not required to resign as army chief before seeking another term as president.

However, he said, constitutional provisions relating to the election of the president should always be referred to since the bill was a subordinate law.

The law minister said the assemblies could re-elect president Musharraf for another term before the elections. He said the tenure of both the president and the National Assembly would end on Nov 16, 2007, and it was necessary to elect a head of the sate before the expiry of the term.
