SUKKUR, April 13: The secretary general of the Sindh chapter of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Senator Khalid Mehmood Soomro, has accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement of carrying out the bomb blast at Nishtar Park in which many precious lives including the entire leadership of Sunni Tehrik and Ahl-i-Sunnat was wiped out.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he termed the statement of MQM chief Altaf Hussain as misleading in which he claimed that religious extremists were behind the blast.
Dr Soomro said that Altaf Hussain wanted to change the direction of investigation through such statements.
He said that the Sindh governor and home minister should be sent home keeping in view the demands of the Sunni Tehrik’s leadership.
He also demanded that the government should register case against actual culprits as was being pointed out by the relatives of the martyrs.
He said that leaders of the Sunni Tehrik had been saying that their lives were endangered as activists of an ethnic group were against them but the government did not pay any heed towards their demands.
He was of the view that the rulers were terming the incident as suicide bombing just to get rid of the responsibility.
Replying to a question, he exonerated the Sindh chief minister of any blame saying he was helpless in the hands of his allies who were enjoying the power under the patronage of Gen Musharraf.
He said that persons involved in murders, dacoities and other heinous crimes had been installed on key posts in Sindh.
He said that killers of Hakeem Saeed, Mufti Shamzai, Dr Habib, Mufti Jamil and others were still at large.
On another question, he said that a dictator was running the country and to get rid of the dictator, the MMA was busy in talks with the ARD leadership.
He said that the MMA leadership was ready to go to London if high command of the PPP and PML (N) desired so.
He said that the MMA parliamentarians would not resign rather would force the government party people to step down.
