IGP orders more steps for security

LAHORE, April 13: Punjab IGP Ziaul Hassan Khan has directed all regional police officers, range deputy inspectors general and DPOs to take appropriate steps to check the movements of suspects in the province.

Special security arrangements have been made and armed contingents, police commandos, special tiger squads along with elite force have been deployed at all important and sensitive points across the province.

He said SSP (Operation), all additional SPs, ASPs/DSPs and SHOs would personally be responsible for maintaining law and order in their respective areas. The force equipped with sophisticated weapons has started night patrol.

Meanwhile, Bahawalpur Range DIG Ghulam Haider Marth on Thursday reviewed the security arrangements made in different districts of the range and monitored duties of all ASPs/DSPs and SHOs.

He directed them to adhere to the instructions of provincial police chief and make sure that no untoward incident takes place in their jurisdiction, besides ensuring full protection to the life and property of the citizens.

Later, the IGP chaired a high-level meeting of DIGs and principal staff officers posted at Central Police Office to review security measures.

BUSINESSMEN: The Business Watch Programme being launched in Lahore to combat the incidence of crime in markets will be made successful at every cost.

This assurance was held out to the business community by Acting Deputy Inspector General Amir ZulfIqar while addressing members of the Business Watch Committee here on Thursday. —APP
