New PTCL board constituted

ISLAMABAD, April 14: The process of handing over of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) has been completed and the new board of directors has been formed, states an official announcement issued here on Friday.

Junaid I. Khan and Babar S. Khan will continue to be president/chief executive officer of PTCL and Ufone, respectively. The new board held its first meeting on Wednesday.

The new board comprises of nine members — five belongs to Etisalat International Pakistan and four from the government side.

Similarly, the board of directors of Ufone and Paknet has also been reconstituted and Etisalat nominees have been appointed on the board of directors of the two companies.

“The newly-constituted board of directors reposed confidence in the present management of PTCL and Ufone and hoped that these entities would touch new heights of dynamism under their supervision,” the announcement stated.

Junaid I. Khan has termed the changes historic moment for PTCL and its employees. “The move would bring further efficiency within the company and better quality of service for customers,” he added.

PTCL, Mr Khan said, would set new standards of service in the country as it was fully committed to reaching out to majority of the population within the telecom services it offered. He said the company would stay at the forefront of the technology to bring latest products and services to Pakistan.

Babar Khan said that Ufone being the second largest cellular operator in the country would continue enhancing its coverage at a fast pace while committing itself to the highest standards of services and network quality.
