KARACHI, April 14: Law and order situation in Sindh, in general, and in Karachi, in particular, was reviewed at a meeting held at the Governor’s House, with Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad in chair on Friday.

The meeting took stock of the situation in Karachi, and it was stated that it was under the administration’s control.

The meeting was informed that the army was called out at the request of the provincial government in aid of civilian administration to maintain law and order and was going back to barracks.

The governor thanked the Corps Commander for army’s help to the civil administration.

Dr Ibad described it a wrong impression that accused in terrorist cases were not arrested. He pointed out that in the past many cases of terrorism had been solved.

The governor directed formation of a committee, to be headed by the home secretary, with members from the city government, the Ranger, the police and the health department.

The committee was entrusted with the task of SOP in respect of various celebrations, congregations, processions, meeting, etc, in cooperation with the organisers.

Dr Ibad said that permission should not be granted in cases where the organisers did not have the capacity to manage the programme.

Later, the governor visited the residence of the slain leader of the Sunni Tehreek, Abbas Qadri, condoled with the family members and offered Fateha for the departed soul.

State Minister Aamir Liaquat Hussain, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, Sindh Minister Adil Siddiqui and others accompanied the governor.

They also visited the residence of Haji Hanif Blue and Hafiz Mohammad Taqi and condoled with the bereaved families.

Dr Ibad also visited Darul Uloom Amjadia to condole the martyrdom of Mufti Mukhtar.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that the blast at Nishtar Park should not be made a political issue because the objective of terrorists was to destabilize the province, the country, the nation and Islam.

“If we went in the wrong direction, it would only fulfil their designs, while our objective is to catch those involved in terrorism” he said.

Dr Ibad also visited the Liaquat National and Civil hospitals and inquired about the welfare of the under treatment blast victims.—APP
