RAWALPINDI, April 14: Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) Managing Director Aslam Ali Sabzwari has said water level of Rawal Dam and Khanpur Dam has reduced considerably due to continuous dry spell and less rains.
In a statement here on Friday, Mr Sabzwari said groundwater also reduced to 220 feet, and the yield of tubewells was decreasing day by day.
The managing director said the Small Dams Organisation had shown its concern over the alarming situation, therefore, withdrawal from Rawal Lake was reduced from 23mgd to 19mgd on March 1 this year.
He said a meeting would be held with Project Director Small Dams and MES authorities at the end of April to review the situation and if required water from Rawal Dam would be further reduced by three mgd from May 1.
