KARACHI, April 15: Sunni Tehrik leaders have made it clear that the withdrawal of the party’s ultimatum does not mean that it has given up its demand for the dismissal of the provincial government and arrest of the terrorists involved in the Nishtar Park bomb blast.

In a handwritten message, faxed by unspecified members of the ST’s caretaker committee, it has been stated that party had withdrawn its ultimatum on the assurance by the federal government that the culprits involved in the Nishtar Park tragedy would be brought to justice at all costs.

The joint statement said that the Sunni Tehrik had made it clear to the federal government that party should be kept informed of each and every development in the investigation.

Emphasising the resolve to continue the struggle initiated by the assassinated Sunni Tehrik chief, Mohammad Salim Qadri, the statement asked ST supporters not to pay heed to any rumours, and act according to the directives given by the Markaz-i-Ahle Sunnat.

The leaders said that by withdrawing the ultimatum, the Sunni Tehrik had proved that despite such a big tragedy and conspiracy that plunged the country into a bloodbath, it stood for peace and amity because it believed in the two-nation theory.

They said that Sunni Tehrik would strive for the glory of Islam and Pakistan.

The leaders asked the followers of Sunni Tehrik to remain calm and maintain discipline.
