HYDERABAD: Arrest of culprits demanded: Nishtar Park tragedy

HYDERABAD, April 15: Tando Muhammad Khan District Nazim Mir Inayat Ali Khan Talpur has said he saw anti-state and anti-Islam elements’ hand behind the Nishtar Park carnage and demanded the government unearth culprits and award them an exemplary punishment.
Speaking at a reception hosted for him by elected representatives of the union council, Dando, Tando Ghulam Hyder taluka, on Friday, Mr Talpur said President Gen Pervez Musharraf had held transparent local bodies elections and would do the same in general elections.
He said the development schemes for Tando Ghulam Hyder had already been approved which would cost Rs120 million. The boys and girls schools in Dando had been upgraded and 13 new primary schools would be established in the union council, added.
The district government emphasised on opening girls schools, he said adding Dando would be provided gas and new roads.
Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister, Mir Ali Nawaz Talpur said the government would take effective steps to rein in lawlessness. The perpetrators of Nishtar Park carnage would be brought to book and awarded exemplary punishment, he assured.
Mir Aijaz Ali Talpur, former Sindh minister, said those who were talking about political changes in the province were failed and frustrated politicians.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Taluka Nazim Tando Ghulam Hyder, Ghulam Murtaza Chandio, Taluka Nazim Tando Muhammad Khan, Mir Ghulamullah Khan Talpur, PML central leader Pir Sajjad Jan Sarhandi, Naib- Nazim Tando Muhammad Khan Pir Ashfaq Ahmed Jan Sarhandi and Mir Raja Shoukat Talpur.
ELECTION OFFICE: President Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Hyderabad and MPA Zahid Ali Bhurgri warned the concerned authorities on Saturday people would not tolerate pre- or post-election rigging in the by-elections for NA-219 on May 2.
Mr Bhrugri urged workers, in his address to the inauguration ceremony for the PPP’s election office for Ali Mohammad Sehto at Juma Goth, Hali Road, to foil all attempts at rigging the by-elections on May 2.
Party workers and local leaders, Amanullah Siyal, Zamir Ghumman, Roshan Solangi, Aftab Khanzada, district president ladies wing, Ms Sanam Talpur, former MPA Usman Kennedy and others were present on the occasion.
RALLY: A large number of students belonging to Jamiat Tulaba-e-Islam on Saturday staged a rally from the City Courts to Hyderabad Press Club to protest against the Nishtar Park tragedy.
The provincial leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Moulana Taj Mohammad Nahiyoon led the rally.
JUI leaders demanded the government arrest the criminals and hang them in public.
